Seaside Extravaganza

SATURDAY 16TH & SUNDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2023

Hello everybody. In case you have not heard, there will be a rather special weekend in Southend-on-Sea next year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Saps At Sea. We have pushed the boat out, dipped into the treasure chest, to present the Seaside Extravaganza.

The two-day event will consist of five Laurel and Hardy shows/presentations including rare clips, classic films, premier of two documentaries, and a presentation about Fred Karno. In addition, there will be a live Variety Show. Our special guests are:

• Dave CRUMP
• LUCKY DOG Theatre
• Steve HEWLETT

Our venue is the Park Inn Palace Hotel in Southend-on-Sea, where Laurel & Hardy stayed in August 1952. It overlooks the seafront and there will be time to enjoy some of the seaside attractions including the famous Southend Pier, the Pleasure Beach rides, the beach and so on and so forth.

We invited Sons to advise us if they would enjoy this event, and that brought a large wave of interest from Sons of the Desert in UK, Europe and America, and some have already booked the hotel and their ticket. So now that the event is 'officially launched, we invite you to do the same and secure your place. There is a number limit, so if you delay your booking, you may be disappointed.

I will be circulating this information to Sons in October, and thereafter send Update to everyone who has booked with information about Laurel & Hardy in Southend. But I will tart with a photograph of the Park Inn Palace Hotel and a report of when Jeff Holland unveiled the Blue Plaque.
